PHILOSOPHY
Through sharing and Education this course will enable couples to enter and progress through the childbearing process with the knowledge and skills necessary for a positive prenatal and delivery experience and the ability to make informed choices. GOALS: * Learn and practice labour and delivery coping mechanisms. * Encourage and understand good nutrition through pregnancy and the post delivery period. * Allow for a supportive atmosphere through sharing experiences with others. * Understand the effects of smoking, drugs and alcohol on the growing fetus. * Encourage open communication with Health Care Practitioners. * Encourage and promote Breastfeeding. * Teach comfort measure skills to partners to allow them to participate and be supportive during pregnancy and childbirth.
